The Coop Chamber and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Cooperatives Sectoral Council (CSC) have finalized a landmark institutional partnership agreement designed to bolster the capacity of the cooperative sector in shaping policies and programs that drive poverty reduction, uphold cooperative autonomy, and promote inclusive economic growth.
The agreement was concluded during a productive online meeting attended by representatives from both organizations, marking a significant milestone in their shared commitment to empower cooperatives nationwide.
Under the partnership, the Coop Chamber and NAPC-CSC will collaborate across several key areas:
- Policy Advocacy: Working jointly to advance legislative and policy initiatives that protect and strengthen the cooperative movement.
- Programs and Project Interventions: Developing and implementing programs that directly benefit cooperative members and marginalized communities.
- Capacity Development and Knowledge Sharing: Conducting training sessions, workshops, and exchanges to build leadership and management competencies within cooperatives.
- Representation in Inter-Agency Platforms and Governance Mechanisms: Ensuring cooperative voices are heard in multi-sectoral bodies and decision-making processes.
- Regulatory Review and Reform Advocacy: Advocating for reforms to create a more enabling regulatory environment for cooperatives.
This institutional agreement underscores the recognition that strong, resilient cooperatives are essential partners in addressing poverty and driving equitable economic progress.
The partnership is set to be formally signed and launched during the Second National Leadership Congress on August 15, 2025. Through this collaboration, the Coop Chamber and NAPC-CSC reaffirm their shared vision of empowering cooperatives as catalysts of sustainable and inclusive development in the Philippines.
