Coop Chamber Meets with NAPC Cooperative Sector to Strengthen Collaboration

As part of its ongoing efforts to deepen engagement with the national government, the Cooperative Chamber participated in the Second Quarter Regular Sectoral Council Meeting of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Cooperatives Sector. The meeting served as a strategic platform to discuss ways forward in advancing the cooperative sector’s development agenda and strengthening collaboration between the Council and the Chamber.

During the session, representatives from both bodies deliberated on priority issues affecting cooperatives nationwide. A key point of discussion was the planned review of the proposed revisions to Republic Act No. 9520, also known as the Cooperative Code of the Philippines. Participants emphasized the importance of ensuring that any amendments are responsive to the current needs and aspirations of cooperatives across all sectors and regions.

In a show of commitment to closer partnership, the Council and the Coop Chamber agreed to finalize the review of the draft revisions and to formally seal their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The MOA signing is scheduled to coincide with the second anniversary celebration of the Cooperative Chamber, underscoring a shared commitment to unity and progress.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to sustain regular dialogue and joint initiatives aimed at empowering cooperatives as drivers of inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
